Fire investigation underway

good evening, and thanks for choosing us for your news at ten … i’m greg miller we begin tonight with the latest fire threat in southern colorado … crews are still mopping up flames along highway 96 west in pueblo… and now, a suspect is in custody facing arson charges. it happeend along the road that runs past lake pueblo state park. a number of small fires burned up and down along the highway. some of the fires were as small as a few square yards… others consumed several acres. the weather, while warm, was fairly cooperative… winds were gentle, helping out crews just a short time ago … officials with pueblo county revealed that a person is in custody… while one other remains at large. a witness reported seeing a male suspect exiting a vehicle and intentionally setting fires along the highway. sheriff’s deputies spotted the male driving near the entrance to lake pueblo state park and took him into custody. in all, flames consumed a total of 15 acres of grassland. all the fires were contained by about 8 p.m. crews are still on scene mopping up hot spots.
