Second illegal marijuana grow found in Pueblo West in as many days
The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office says that 127 marijuana plants and $100,000 worth of marijuana supplies were found in a Pueblo West home Thursday.
Adriel Trujillo Daniel, 28, and Leosbel Ledesma Quintana, 41, were arrested.
The men are originally from Cuba and most recently lived in Miami. They moved to Pueblo West less than two weeks ago.
A neighbor asked the sheriff’s office to investigate the home in the 300 block of S. Hidalgo Drive after noticing suspicious renovation work being done. The doors to the double-car garage and carport area were enclosed with siding material for what was believed to become a grow warehouse. Additionally, there were two central-air conditioning units, exhaust fans and security cameras recently installed at the home.
When deputies contacted Quintana, Daniel and a third man at the home, they told deputies they were starting a medical marijuana grow operation. None of the men had the proper paperwork for a medical marijuana grow. The third man was not arrested.
Investigators think Daniel and Quintana were planning to expand the marijuana growing operation with the eventual goal of selling their product in Florida.
On Wednesday, five homes were raided as part of an illegal marijuana bust in Pueblo West. 1,900 marijuana plants were seized and seven people were arrested. All of the people arrested in Wednesday’s bust were from Florida, but police do not believe the two cases are connected.
The sheriff’s office says that since mid March, it has executed search warrants at seven homes in Pueblo West, arrested 10 individuals and seized more than 2,100 marijuana plants, along with equipment and supplies used in the production of butane hash-oil.
