State supreme court orders Planned Parenthood shooting case documents unsealed
Court documents related to the Black Friday shooting at the Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood are expected to be released soon.
On Monday, the Colorado Supreme Court ordered that the documents be released. It’s not clear when the documents will be made available.
Judge Gilbert Martinez is presiding over the Robert Dear case. He sealed the documents in December.
The order is in part a response to a motion filed by media outlets, including KRDO NewsChannel 13, to have the paperwork unsealed. It also comes after Dear and one of the shooting victims did interviews with the media.
Robert Dear is charged with 179 counts, including murder, attempted murder, and assault. He will be in court for a mental competency hearing on April 28.
Dear has admitted in court to killing three people and injuring nine in the shooting at Planned Parenthood’s Centennial Boulevard clinic.
