Caon City cashier popular after lotto ticket sale
“Has anybody claimed it yet?”
It’s a question Amy Gayler heard a lot this week.
“Not that we know of,” said Gayler as she cashed out a customer Friday.
It’s the first time in her 11 years at the In & Out Conoco that’s she has sold a winner.
And it was a big one. “I’m surprised I’m the one that sold it.”
She says $3.9 million from six little numbers is a big deal for Caon City.”Nothing that big or exciting happens in Caon City.”
“I’m just glad something happened here in Caon City. I really am,” said Mason Storm.
Storm buys lotto tickets at the Conoco twice a week, but he’s not bitter – he’s hopeful.
“I’ve got a ticket in there and I know I’ve got at least one number but I don’t know,” said Mason.
Whether Gayler has the magic touch he joked is debatable. “Well if she did, I would’ve won by now.”
One thing is for sure, news that the winner is out there is boosting lotto sales.
“Everybody seems to think that maybe this is the winning place to be to buy a ticket,’ said Gayler. ‘We don’t mind, we like the business. Come on in!”
And it may just boost this cashier’s popularity.
“It hasn’t been a big deal so far but now that you’ve put me on TV,” Gayler said while laughing.
But she’s keeping one thing close to her vest: the identity of the big winner.
“We have an idea but I’d never reveal that to anyone even though you’re very convincing,” Gayler said with a smile.
