Life-saving antidote can be purchased

You could have another chance at life if you are facing a drug overdose.

The Pueblo City-County Health Department said people can now purchase Narcan at pharmacies.

Officials said this is important because of the heroin problem Pueblo is facing.

Community Health Services Director Lynn Procell said now that people can buy the antidote, they can have a chance to save someone’s life.

“We want (everyone) to have a second chance and not (have) a death sentence because you have a really severe addiction,” Procell said.

The department said two doses of Narcan can cost anywhere from $35 to $65.

Procell said there are no legal ramifications if someone wants to carry Narcan.

The Pueblo Police Department will also receive 70 units of Narcan.
