Air Force’s Serratore named Coach of the Year

The Atlantic Hockey Conference gave out their annual awards on Thursday, and the Air Force Academy really brought home the hardware.

Head Coach Frank Serratore was named Coach of the Year, senior captain Ben Carey was named the league’s best defensive forward and earned the league’s individual sportsmanship award, and goalie Shane Starett was honored as the league’s top goalkeeper.

“It’s nice to be coach of the year but I’d rather be coach of this weekend,” said Serratore. “I believe we’re the team of the year, I believe we’re a great team and a great story and nothing would make me happier than for us to succeed this weekend and move on to the NCAA tournament.”

The Falcons prepare to face RIT (Rhode Island Institute of Technology) this weekend in the AHC’s semifinals.
