Denver area cop accused of touching women he pulled over
A suburban Denver police officer has been charged with unlawfully touching three women authorities say he encountered during traffic stops.
Authorities said Monday 22-year-old John Reinhart faces three misdemeanor counts of unlawful sexual contact, and investigators are trying to learn whether there are other victims. Reinhart was served a summons Friday and immediately resigned from the Commerce City police department, where he had worked since August 2014.
It’s not clear if he has an attorney yet.
District Attorney Dave Young says one woman came forward in February to report Reinhart’s conduct during a September traffic stop. Investigators discovered the other two women while doing an audit of 2,500 cases in which Reinhart was involved.
Authorities say that audit is ongoing.
