CSPD Officer involved in crash while responding to a fight over a parking spot
A Colorado Springs police officer walks away from a crash Monday (03/14/16) afternoon.
It happened around 1:30 pm, near South Nevada Avenue and Southgate Blvd.
The police car hit a silver sedan in the intersection. The officer had the cruiser’s lights and sirens on.
Both cars were heavily damaged, but no one was hurt. The driver of the sedan was cited for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle.
The officer was on the way to a nearby King Soopers, for a fight in the parking lot. The fight involved two drivers arguing over a parking spot, one of them pulled a gun.
CSPD says the person with the gun felt threatened and that’s when they showed the weapon.
Both parties eventually calmed down and no one was hurt. The person with the gun was ticketed.
