They say a 53-year-old woman was pronounced dead because of this fire, however the cause of her death is still unknown. Her name has not yet been released pending notification of kin.
Three other people were transported to local hospitals to be treated for smoke inhalation.
The fire broke out at the Azteca apartments on the 700 block of Hunter drive. Calls started streaming in just after 10 p.m. Saturday night.
Fire fighters say the fire is out and they were able to contain it to the 9th floor apartment where the blaze originated.
Evacuations of the apartment complex started around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, but as of early Sunday morning, residents were allowed back into their apartment homes.
The fire department says approximately 10 people in the complex may be displaced as their homes have bad smoke and water damage. The complex is helping to relocate those people at this time, however the fire department says many people are staying with family.
