Man surrenders after barricading himself for hours

One man has been arrested after he barricaded himself in a home in Pueblo.

It happened in the 1500 block of Cypress Street.

Police received a call around 10:45 p.m. Thursday from a mother who thought her daughter may have been involved in a hostage situation.

Before police arrived, three of the four people inside the home were able to get out safely.

Investigators say the remaining man, James Lucero, refused to come out because he had three active warrants out of for his arrest, two of them felony warrants. Authorities tried to convince him to come out. A SWAT team was called out, gas was deployed and doors and windows were breached.

Lucero surrendered around 5:00 Friday morning after authorities went inside the home to get him out. He was taken to the Pueblo County Jail.

Police have not said if he’ll face additional charges.
