Pedestrian traffic deaths up, distracted walking and texting cited as one reason
A new study shows an increase in pedestrian traffic deaths and cites walking while texting as a possible reason.
The Governors Highway Safety Association estimates pedestrian traffic deaths increased by 10 percent from 2014 to 2015.
Among the possible reasons is distracted walking while on the phone. Many in southern Colorado said they’re not surprised.
“No one really pays attention anymore,” Monique Perez said.
“I think it’s dangerous, and I think it’s ridiculous,” Tom Espinosa said.
