America remembers Nancy Reagan

Mourners remembering former U.S. first lady Nancy Reagan have left a growing display of flowers and flags at the main entrance of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum in Simi Valley, California.

The library is closed and visitors are being turned away.

Sharon Hirtzer and her husband, Joe, were among the well-wishers outside the library Sunday. The couple was visiting from Chicago and had planned to visit before learning of Mrs. Reagan’s death.

“I was just really sad,” Sharon Hirtzer said. “She was a great lady and had so much class.”

Dr. Mark Schnose, a psychologist from San Bernardino County, said he was impressed with how Mrs. Reagan became outspoken about Alzheimer’s awareness after the former president was diagnosed with the disease.

Mrs. Reagan was 94.
