Soccer tournament brings thousands to Pueblo
The largest soccer tournament in southern Colorado is underway.
The 19th annual Sunbelt Classic started in Pueblo Saturday.
This year’s tournament has 162 teams, with all of the players under the age of 18.
William Cameron, who is from Colorado Springs, is watching his granddaughter play. He said he will go anywhere to watch her play because it is fun for him.
“It’s fantastic just watching her run around and be active and how much they enjoy playing the games and stuff like that. We have 12 grandchildren, so we try to stay involved, with them to watch them,” he said.
The Classic will happen through Sunday.
Organizers said the tournament should draw in more than 5,000 people and bring in more than $1 million to the Pueblo economy.
