Rain barrel legislation goes through House
Water in Colorado is always a hotly debated topic, but residents might be one step closer to getting more water rights.
The rain barrel bill presented by state Rep. Deneya Esgar, from Pueblo, sailed through the state house this week.
Esgar says she has worked very hard for the bill to be bipartisan.
It would allow Coloradans to catch rain water in a barrel and use it for their gardens.
“We have a study from CSU Fort Collins that actually proves that there’s no injury to just collecting it from your roof and putting it on your tomato plants,” said Esgar.
The bill will continue to the Senate, where Esgar hopes it will see the same success.
