One man dead, two hurt in shooting at Pueblo bar
One man is dead, two others are hurt after an early-morning shooting in Pueblo.
Police said the shooting happened on 8th and Main streets around 1 a.m. Sunday.
Police said the shooting happened in front of the Iron Horse Bar. It started out as a fight outside.
When officers got on the scene, they found that three men had been shot during the fight. All three were taken to the hospital, where one man died. The other two men are said to be in stable condition, according to police.
The Pueblo County Coroner has identified the man who died as 26-year-old Devin Clark.
“Devin was a role model citizen. He was a role model adult. He did what he was supposed to do as an adult, he acted as a kind individual,” Clark’s friend Dylan Boggs said.
Interprotec & Associates CEO Salvadore Torres said two of the men who were shot were his security guards at the bar. He said if it wasn’t for his security guards keeping the fight outside the bar, the situation could have been much worse.
“If they weren’t there, (the fight) could have went in the bar, and the bar was quite busy, there probably would have been more deaths,” he said.
Officers and detectives are still investigating the shooting. As of now, no one is in custody.
Clark’s family released a statement to KRDO NewsChannel 13 and said they were mourning his loss and said he was an innocent bystander in the incident. They’re asking for privacy and prayers in this difficult time.
Friends have reacted, though, calling Clark a shining star.
“He could make anybody happy,” said friend Dylan Boggs.
He wants the violence in Pueblo to stop.
“Everybody’s families are tired of it. They’re tired of the hurt and they’re tired of the pain,” he said.
Pueblo County’s District Attorney Jeff Chostner wrote a response to City Council, saying he was “outraged by the continuing cycle of violence [in Pueblo] and the lack of Council’s concern on the matter.”
He’s asking voters to support him as he drafts ballot language regarding public safety in Pueblo.
