Update: Colorado Springs woman arrested on attempted homicide charges

UPDATED: Colorado Springs police arrested a woman on attempted homicide charges Sunday.

Officers were called to a home on the 300 block of Locust Drive just before 2:00am Sunday.

Tracie Burkey was taken into custody Sunday, according to Colorado Springs police.

A man there told police that he and his wife, Burkey, had gotten into a fight.

During the altercation, Tracie Burkey retrieved a shotgun from the home and fired it at her husband as he was trying to drive away in his car.

The shot did not strike the victim but he did sustain minor injuries from flying glass.

Tracie Burkey fled the area with her four-year-old child in the car.

She left the scene in a red, 2013 Volkswagen Jetta bearing Colorado license plate RBV-951.

Officers have obtained a warrant for Tracie Burkey’s arrest, charging her with several crimes, including Attempted First Degree Homicide.
