I-70 reopens to 2-way traffic after rockslides

Interstate 70 through Glenwood Canyon in western Colorado has reopened to two-way traffic, but transportation officials are warning drivers to expect delays.

The Colorado Department of Transportation says the eastbound lanes opened in both directions at about 4 p.m. Thursday. Pace cars are leading traffic through the canyon, and repairs are expected to continue over the next month.

A 24-mile stretch of the highway between Glenwood Springs and Gypsum was shut down Feb. 15 after rocks tumbled onto the road. A boulder the size of a small car crashed into a truck, but no one was injured.
