Rocky Ford pursuit leads to crash that sends two people to hospital

Rocky Ford Police and Fire are investigating an accident that sent two people to the hospital Tuesday night.

It happened around 8:30 p.m. Fire Chief Ray Gonzalez says an officer was pulling over a Pontiac Bonneville, for a standard traffic violation, when a pursuit started.

The car, with a male driver and female passenger, both around 50 years old, crashed into a tree at 12th and Washington.

The couple was transported to the hospital in La Junta, then airlifted to another hospital, location unknown.

Colorado State Patrol and the Rocky Ford Police Department are investigating to see if alcohol was involved.
