Deputies recover Colorado City family’s wheelchair, van

A Colorado City mother’s call for help was answered Monday.

We reported last Friday that the mother was asking for your help to find her son’s wheelchair and her mother’s van.

Pueblo County sheriff’s deputies found both the van and wheelchair Monday afternoon on Perry Avenue, that’s near Pueblo Boulevard on the city’s west side.

Vincent Wilson, 8, now has a smile on his face again since he got this wheelchair back.

He has a birth defect that affects his ability to walk and use his muscles. The wheelchair makes it easy for him to get around.

“I can catch up to my friends when we are going to the library. I can catch up with my family,” Vincent said.

His grandmother’s van was also recovered.

Deputies said it will be impossible to find a suspect because there were no witnesses and the prints were wiped off the van.

“They think they heard about the story on the TV and my dad also thinks that they heard the story and ditched the van,” Vincent’s mother, Karen Wilson, said.

Vincent said he is grateful for all the help because now he can move around faster and pop a wheelie.

Vincent’s mother said a few small items and $20 were stolen from the van.
