President Bill Clinton Stumps For Hillary in the Springs
More than 1,000 supporters came out to Colorado College Sunday to hear former President Bill Clinton campaign for his wife.
The event, a rally to fire up volunteers for the “Hillary for Colorado” effort, came nine days before Colorado Democrats hold their caucus.
Some had to be turned away from the standing-room-only event.
The 42nd President told the crowd that we live in too partisan of a political climate, urging Southern Colorado Democrats to caucus for the person he calls: “The greatest change-maker I’ve ever known.”
The rally also comes the day after Hillary Clinton’s key victory in Nevada, reestablishing herself as the Democratic front-runner.
“Hillary is the best candidate for the times, to help bridge divisions in our nation, “[Hillary will] give us a future we can all share, to get America back to inclusive economics, inclusive social policies, inclusive politics and a foreign policy that keeps us safe, not only with a strong military and a strong diplomacy, but with a world with more partners and fewer enemies,” Clinton said.
President Clinton also touched on the GOP stance on immigration. He urged those in attendance to break down barriers, calling Donald Trump’s call for a wall on the Mexican border dangerous.
There was no doubt, however, why Colorado College was chosen for Sunday’s event, with President Clinton making a candid appeal to his youthful crowd.
“What about all these dreamers that are terrified the election will go the wrong way?, Clinton told supporters. “Young kids. So, let’s do this together. Let’s welcome the dreamers, let’s welcome the families and give a path to citizenship and stop all this stuff.”
What was missing from the President’s address? Clinton never mentioned Bernie Sanders by name, nor did he make mention of the Planned Parenthood shootings here.
