Family offered new home after displaced by fire

A father and daughter were among several residents displaced by a fire on the west side of Colorado Springs on Jan. 26. The fire was ruled accidental.

It happened at a five-home complex near the intersection of 18th Street and Sheldon Avenue just east of Old Colorado City. Three of the homes were occupied and two were vacant. Two of the units were destroyed.

Randall Buccino, 51, and his daughter, Laura, 20, were among eight people displaced. Everyone was able to find another home, except for the Buccinos who have been living in a motel since. The family has received donated clothing, but lost almost everything in the fire.

The property manager, Rachel Frey, set up a Go Fund Me account to help raise money for the family. Due to donations she was able to provide the family with a new home that will be presented to them next week.

“Everybody was more than willing to help. I got overwhelmed with emails on how people can help us and all the donations we raised about $1,200 for Randy and Laura,” said Frey.

The family is still in need of some donations. If you’d like to help, you can donate to the family’s GoFundMe page under Randall Buccino’s name.
