Wind cleanup begins in Caon City
Thursday’s gusty winds became much breezier and more manageable on Friday, which allowed for the assessment and cleanup of damage.
In Caon City today, a crew was removing a large oak tree that fell on a roof Thursday during the strongest of the high winds.
They told us that there are at least four downed trees in Caon City because of the wind.
Despite the size of the tree and where it landed, it could have been much worse. Homeowner, Willie Alamzan, who was home with his wife when the tree fell, took it all in stride and told us that he got away relatively lucky.
“Very little, there’s a little structural damage. we’ll have the insurance look at it and see what they can do with it,” he said.
Workers at the scene say that they expect to have the tree cleaned up and the street back open today.
We found another tree came down across town that broke a street lamp in front of an old school building. That will be cleaned up tomorrow.
