Pueblo West water pipeline leaking
A major pipeline that delivers water to Pueblo West is leaking.
Pueblo West and Colorado Springs leaders agreed on a weekend long agreement to allow Pueblo West to tap into the SDS pipeline to secure water.
They will meet again on Monday to discuss long term options so the pipeline can be repaired.
Pueblo West community engagement manager Rich Takacs says there is no one without water, and no immediate cause for concern.
“At this point, the conversations are centered on this not impacting the 1041 or any other agreements of SDS. It would be a temporary measure just to provide the 30,000 residents of Pueblo West with water,” said Takacs.
A similar leak happened in July of last year, when the water from the SDS pipeline was used by Pueblo West for five days.
