Reality star finalist helps local students get a new turf field
America’s Got Talent 2014 finalist Miguel Dakota was in Monument Thursday, helping middle schoolers attain their goal of a new turf field.
The Monument Academy Parent Teacher Organization created the “MA Green4Green Campaign,” to raise money for an artificial turf field.
On Thursday, Dakota was received with a song performed by the school’s choir. He greeted the students and staff and autographed a guitar and some CDs and. The articles and a private concert with him will be auctioned off, and the money raised will go toward the MA Green4Green Campaign
“It’s cool to be able to use music and the things that have happened to me in my life, to help other people, especially when it’s where I grew up, in Monument, it’s a really cool opportunity,” Dakota said.
The Green4Green Tailgate Kickoff will take place Saturday, March 5 from 5 pm to 9 pm at the Monument Academy Gym. VIP admission is $50 and general admission is $35. All proceeds will go toward the turf play area.
