Hometown Heroes recognized in Pueblo

The Parkview Mobile Nurses never work the same day twice.

“We go into businesses, we go into schools, we go into churches, sometimes on the street corners, in the mall,” said Jan Philson, a Parkview Mobile nurse.

Because of their hard work and dedication, they’re now part of a select group being recognized by the Red Cross.

“We look forward to recognizing people, ordinary people that do extraordinary things,” said Bill Fortune with the American Red Cross.

The mobile nurses and eight other organizations and individuals are this year’s hometown heroes.

“A hero doesn’t have to wear a cape, it doesn’t have to be a superhero. It could be you, it could be me. It could be anyone that makes a difference in their community,” said Fortune.

It’s a chance for an organization that responds during disasters to recognize others who help make the Red Cross successful.

“We were so humbled and it’s truly just an honor to get to do what we do every single day out in the community,” said Terri Tibbs, a Parkview Mobile nurse.
