Former ‘Bachelor’ contestant dead from apparent suicide

Lex McAllister, a contestant who appeared on “The Bachelor” in 2010, died Tuesday of an apparent suicide after a drug overdose, according to police in Columbus, Ohio.

A police spokeswoman said authorities received a 911 call Saturday afternoon with the caller saying McAllister, 31, had overdosed on prescription pills.

She was taken to a hospital in stable condition, but her body began to shut down and she was taken off life support, according to a report from TMZ.

McAllister appeared on the 14th season of the ABC reality show, which featured pilot Jake Pavelka. She was eliminated after the first week of the show.

She isn’t the first contestant from that season of “The Bachelor” to commit suicide. Fellow contestant Gia Allemand died in 2013, two days after hanging herself in her New Orleans home.
