D-11 lockdowns lifted, search for bank robber continues

Colorado Springs School District 11 says four northeast side schools were placed on a precautionary lockdown because of police activity Tuesday morning.

The affected schools were Keller Elementary, Grant Elementary, Fremont Elementary and Russell Middle.

All of the lockdowns have now been lifted.

The Colorado Springs Police Department says the TCF Bank in the 4300 block of N. Academy Boulevard was robbed, and the schools were locked down while police searched for the robber.

The robbery was reported at 9:38 a.m. Police say the robber demanded money, then jumped over the counter and took an unknown amount of cash. He did not show a weapon.

No description of the robber is currently available.
