Colorado Springs bank robbed for second time in a month

“Not again,” was the refrain from many customers Tuesday who learned their bank in Colorado Springs had been robbed for the second time this year.

Police responded just after 9:30 a.m. to the TCF Bank on Academy Boulevard near the intersection of Austin Bluffs Parkway, a branch that police said was robbed Jan. 13.

During Tuesday’s robbery, police said a man entered the bank and demanded money but did not display a weapon. He jumped over the counter, police said, and took an unspecified amount of money from a cashier’s drawer.

Police said the thief fled in an unidentified vehicle that was found a short distance away. He remained at large Tuesday night and police did not provide a description.

“This is a very good bank,” said Tony Gellerman. “It has good customer service. The robbery is disconcerting but it doesn’t hinder me from doing business with them.”

Tana Dile wasn’t as positive.

“It’s kind of disappointing, I had some bank business to do,” she said. “It’s a little inconvenient.”
