Vandals again pour paint on Denver memorial to fallen police

For the second time in a year, vandals have poured red paint on a memorial to fallen officers outside Denver Police Department headquarters.

Police say the damage was done either late Sunday or early Monday.

The Denver Post reports police are investigating but no arrests have been made.

Red paint was poured on the monument a year ago during a demonstration against police misconduct, and two men were charged with vandalism.

One pleaded guilty to criminal mischief and was sentenced to probation and ordered to pay restitution. The other pleaded not guilty, but authorities say he failed to appear for a court hearing.

In October, someone vandalized a separate memorial commemorating an officer who was killed in 2012 while trying to break up a disturbance at Denver’s City Park.
