Fugitive from Colorado Springs dies after Georgia police chase

A man from Colorado Springs took his own life after a high speed chase in Georgia.

WALB-TV reports that Danielle Ockstadt, also from Colorado Springs, says Jaoquim Gerry, 34, forced her to drive him.

The station says the chase started near Albany, Ga. when deputies tried to stop the car because it didn’t have a tag.

The WALB report says that Gerry fired at law enforcement during the chase.

Authorities told the television station that the car and gun were stolen, that Gerry was wanted in Colorado and that a large amount of marijuana was found in the car.

Ockstadt, 29, was injured when a Georgia state trooper’s shotgun accidentally went off. She was shot in the feet. Two other law enforcement officers were shot in the leg during the incident.
