Authorities investigating armed robberies, attempted robbery

The Colorado Springs Police Department and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office are investigating two armed robberies and an attempted robbery that happened Thursday night.

They believe the same person is behind all three incidents.

Police said at around 8 pm Thursday, a man entered the 7-Eleven on Barnes Road and threatened the clerk with a weapon. He left without anything. Less than an hour later, police said he entered the Family Dollar near Murray Boulevard and Platte Avenue with a gun and demanded money. He left with cash before police arrived.

Less than three miles away, there was another armed robbery. El Paso County Sheriff’s Deputies said it happened at the Loaf ‘N Jug on Galley Road off Hathaway Drive. The robber entered the store with a handgun and demanded money. He fled on foot with cash.

Police said the description of the suspect is similar in all three incidents.
