Trump, Sanders win New Hampshire Primary convincingly
Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Bernie Sanders won the New Hampshire primary by double-digits Tuesday night.
The race was called just a few minutes after the polls closed at 8 p.m. ET.
Trump won 35 percent of the vote. Ohio Gov. John Kasich came in second with 16 percent.
Sanders won 60 percent against Hillary Clinton’s 39 percent.
Sanders supporters from Southern Colorado say the win gives the campaign momentum. “Bernie is proving his message is resonating across the country,” Sally Briggs said.
Clinton supporters say she’s the most electable.
“We just need a good, strong person and she’s the one, she knows what she’s doing and I love her,” Clinton fan Stephanie Woodfin said.
On the GOP side, El Paso County GOP Executive Director Daniel Cole believes a lengthened primary contest favors Trump.
“Trump has such a plurality nationwide,” Cole said. “He may not be able to win a head-to-head say with Ted Cruz but he’s certainly going to win if five or six candidates remain in this thing until the end.”
