Health organizations train for outbreak

The Pueblo City-County Health Department worked along with other health organizations to make sure they’re prepared for a pandemic or disease outbreak.

The scenario presented to the groups involved a sick cat at the fair ground that infected a few people.

Each group that participated worked together to decide on the best plan of action.

During the training session, there were surprises thrown in to keep those participating on their toes.

“Somebody became infected with an unknown disease and so our exercise today was to test how we would discover what the disease was, how we would investigate that, and then how our responders and our hospitals would react,” said Lisa Gonzales with the Pueblo City County Health Department.

Sarah Joseph with the Health Department calls the drill a success.
