Springs to apply for federal grant to help landslide stricken property owners

The City of Colorado Springs has scheduled two public meetings to discuss recent landslide activity on the west side of town and federal funds that may be available to help affected property owners.

The city says it is applying for a FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant Program through the Colorado division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.

“We want to ensure that any property owner who feels they have been significantly impacted by the recent landslides has an opportunity to learn more about recent landslide activity and the federal grant program that the City will compete for in May 2016 ,” said Bret Waters, Director for the Colorado Springs Office of Emergency Management.

Potentially impacted property owners are encouraged to attend one of two community meetings:

9 El Pomar Road
Colorado Springs, CO 80906

Thursday, February 18 , 6:30 – 8 p.m.
