Security tight outside Super Bowl stadium

You won’t find any tailgate parties outside of Santa Clara’s Levi’s Stadium.

Long security lines and plenty of armed police are what you will find instead, as the NFL beefs up security surrounding the big game.

A typical NFL game is heavily attended by fans who show up to the game without tickets, hoping to soak in the party atmosphere in the parking lot. But not so when the Super Bowl arrives.

According to NewsChannel 13’s Heather Skold, getting into the game was a long ordeal Sunday, with various layers of security checkpoints standing between fans and the stadium gates.

Of course, the Super Bowl has long been acknowledged as a potential terror target. Heavy security has always been a part of the Super Bowl experience, even more so since the terror attacks on New York after 9/11.
