People plunge in ice cold water for charity

People are freezing in Lake Pueblo for a good cause.

The inaugural Pueblo County Polar Plunge happened Saturday.

Hundreds of people from all over Colorado ran into the cold water of Lake Pueblo to raise money for the Colorado Special Olympics.

The idea of the event came from the annual Polar Plunge at the Aurora Reservoir.

We spoke with Colorado State Patrol Sgt. Brian Lyons. He said he was frozen stiff coming out of the water.

“That’s a shock to your system where you kind of go in there and the next thing you know it’s like diving into a big bowl of ice,” he said.

More than $18,000 was made at the event.
