A Colorado Springs woman whose dying wish is to meet Broncos star quarterback Peyton Manning cheered from the stands of the playoff game with her daughter.

The Reserve Casino Hotel donated two tickets so Cindy Harris and her daughter Bri could attend the game. The two wore matches Manning jerseys while they tailgated and couldn’t wait to get inside.

“It’s an honor because he (Manning) is a really great guy and I am glad he got to do something for my mom,” said Bri.

“I am just proud to be here and be in this craziness,” said Cindy. “I will yell as loud as I can. I don’t know if I can beat the crowd that’s there but I’ll try.”

Inside, Cindy and Bri held signs saying “Stomp the Steelers” and “My last wish came true, now win!”

After the game, Cindy was overcome with emotions thinking about the special memories she’ll now have with her daughter,

“It’s a big memory. I want her to take this back and remember. I love the Broncos and I am glad that they did this for me,” said Cindy.

Cindy was diagnosed with cancer two years ago. She underwent chemotherapy but found out recently, the cancer had spread. Doctors gave her one month to live. Her family and friends are trying to make her dying wish to meet Manning come true.

Cindys’ daughter Bri and family friend Beck Smith posted her wish on Facebook hoping that if it got shared enough, Manning would take notice.

On Wednesday, Cindy received a surprised phone call from Manning. He told her that he he was praying for her and he hoped she’d cheer loud for his team during Sunday’s game. As she spoke to him on speaker phone, her family and friends laughed and cried as they say the smile spread across her face while she spoke to him.

“She never wants people to feel bad for her, she never asks for anything, she never asks for anything for herself so I think she really deserves it,” said Becky Smith.

The story took off on social media on Tuesday. Before KRDO NewsChannel 13’s interview, Cindy was unaware of the group’s plan to try to get Manning’s attention.

“Very surprised. Shocked actually. And I am very proud of those two,” said Cindy.

Manning wasn’t able to make it down to Colorado Springs, so he called Cindy.

“Just want you to know that I’m glad to hear you’re such a big Broncos fan and supporter of mine. And, I appreciate that and that you are in my thoughts and in my prayers,” said Manning over the phone. “I know you’re going through a tough fight right now and you have a lot of people pulling for you and praying for you and you can add me to that list.”

Harris said she was shocked to see the response, only a few days after her daughter Bri and family friend Smith started their viral campaign.

“I don’t know what to say,” said Harris. “Wow, you guys move fast.”

Her friend Roxann Smith joked she and Cindy have loved the Broncos forever and Peyton Manning since he joined the team.

“We cheer and scream all the time, something not good screaming,” said Roxann Smith.

Smith said it’s been devastating to see Cindy’s time on Earth cut so short.

“When she said that she had this (diagnosis), I didn’t think it would happen this quickly. It’s a hard thing to see her and her family go through this,” said Roxann Smith.

Everyone was thrilled to see Manning’s response.

“I was like really!? Are you kidding?” said Bri Harris.

“Honestly I couldn’t believe it that he was on the other end of the phone. But it was exciting to see her face and the excitement and that big ‘ole smile on her face because we haven’t seen it in a while,” said Roxann Smith.

Manning asked Cindy to cheer loud for him on Sunday and he’ll cheer for her.

“Keep fighting and keep the faith. Keep a good attitude. I know you’re doing that and like I said, I’ll be pulling for you,” said Manning.
