Legislation could grow Pueblo West
If a bill passes through the Colorado Legislature, Pueblo West will finally be able to promote itself.
The legislation essentially would allow metro districts like Pueblo West more economic advantages.
According to the district manager, Pueblo West loses $122 million to other cities because of its evaluation as a metro district.
“Best thing we can do is really just market ourselves. Not having the ability, we can’t spend any time or resources toward economic development now as the law currently sits, so this is a way to change that,” said Darrin Tangemen, the Pueblo West district manager.
The House has already passed the bill. It now goes to the Senate.
