Early morning chase leads to arrest

Colorado Springs police were called in to help sheriff deputies in an early morning chase Saturday on the east side of Colorado Springs.

Police say Charles Pierson was wanted on a felony warrant. El Paso County deputies attempted to pull Pierson over in the 2800 block of New Center Point, near Powers Boulevard and Tutt Boulevard. When officers asked Pierson to get out of his car, they say he took off, hitting a officer’s cruiser and running over stop sticks. They say he led officers on a low speed chase and was arrested shortly afterward.

According to police, Pierson is facing charges of second-degree assault on a peace officer and driving under the influence of drugs.
