moment. nats – you’ll never know dear, how much i love you. please don’t take, my sunshine away. it’s proof no matter how health or time can weaken the body, true love can conquer. son sot: 3:59 “you should see, unbelieveable, they lit up, were singing songs together.” elmer melchi was a paratrooper with the 82nd airborne during world war two … june was a volunteer with the british red cross. through captivity in war, raising a family and health battles for both their bond remained strong. 1:41: then my dad was after one thing, to get to my mom. they weren’t married yet, but he was going to go back and propose to my mom. he walked from germany into france. went across the english channel, got to nottingham, england to find my mom. the two married and had four boys. but as the years went on – their health started to fail. june developed dimentia… 2:12: she doesn’t know who everyone is. and then elmer developed cancer. but they still knew each other. 2:15 everytime they were together, she’d smile. she knew it was someone special in their lives. the two were separated in different health care facilities and couldn’t be moved because of health. but finally, thanks to the work of sangre de christo hospice in pueblo, the two were reunited. sot: they’re angels. leading to this last reunion… sot: please don’t take my sunshine away. a love story that withstood all obstacles. elmer melchi was 92 years old.
