New downtown Colorado Springs apartment building opens for business

For the first time in 50 years, apartments in a brand new building are available for rent in downtown Colorado Springs.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held at Blue Dot Place on Friday.

The four story, 33 unit complex is located at 412 S. Nevada Avenue.

The building is located in the southern part of downtown in a neighborhood that backers are calling the New South End.

The Downtown Partnership says it has a goal of adding 500 new housing units to the area by 2018, and that with several other projects in the planning phases, they are well on their way to reaching that goal.

In addition to the rental units, the complex features ground-floor retail space which has been leased by a coffee shop and an insurance agent.

Blue Dot Place’s target market is people who are seeking an urban lifestyle. Rents start at $1,100 per month.
