Manning on Broncos’ Super Bowl curfew: I suggested 9:00

Head Coach Gary Kubiak was asked Thursday about the curfew situation for the players out in Santa Clara.

Kubiak said he trusts his players and will leave it up to the captains to decide when the guys should go to bed .

That means the responsibility falls to players like Peyton Manning and DeMarcus Ware.

“I threw out 9:00 p.m.,” said Manning. “And that didn’t get a lot of positive reviews. DeMarcus said he was going to have to take some time to think about that and weigh in.”

“9:00 p.m.?!” said Tight End Vernon Davis. “I don’t know about 9:00 p.m. I think we have a unique group of guys and I think they’re smart, they make the right decisions, and as a team we have to hold each other accountable.”

On the injury front – the Broncos only had two guys sit out of practice Thursday.

Unfortunately – those two are very important cogs in their defensive machine .

Safeties Darian Stewart and T.J. Ward were held out of the action Thursday. Stewart is dealing with a knee injury suffered in the AFC Championship Game against New England, while Ward is recovering from a tweaked ankle.

Come Super Bowl time, Coach Kubiak expects both to play.

“I’m encouraged that they’re both going to be there in a couple weeks,” said Kubiak. “I think T.J. is probably a little bit ahead of [Stewart] right now but we’ll probably be smart with them this week and put them back to work next week, but I feel good about it.”
