Utility rates are dropping again

Colorado Springs Utilities (CSU) rates are going down again, and you can thank the energy market.

For the second time in a few months, rates for all levels of CSU customers will be dropping.

Commercial customers will see the biggest drop, but the average residential customer will save around $9 a month.

Utilities administrators say plans are in place to ensure the low rates for the long term.

Jerry Forte, the CEO of Colorado Springs Utilities said, “We look at both what our customers would need in terms of a load forecast and then we look at ways to influence that with customer management programs to keep their use of electricity as low as possible.”

Utilities officials say that rates are re-visited on a quarterly basis.
