Video: Man robbed, beaten in Pueblo

The Pueblo Police Department has released surveillance video in hopes that someone will have information about a robbery and beating that happened Friday morning.

The crime was reported at 3:11 a.m. January 22, 2016. It happened in the 100 block of University Circle on the south side of the city.

Police say the victim accepted a ride from a bar in the 1000 block of S. Pueblo Boulevard to University Circle.

The surveillance video shows that he was dropped off by a newer model, white, four door Honda Civic. An older model, two-tone Ford F-150 pickup truck pulled up next to the Civic as the victim was being dropped off.

Police say the driver of the truck got out and confronted the people in the civic. They say the Civic drove away and the driver of the truck turned his attention to the victim. Police say the driver of the pickup demanded items from the victim and beat him unconscious. A resident nearby eventually scared him away.

The attack has left some in the neighborhood concerned.

“My dog was barking and I figured it was just kids, I looked out the door there was an ambulance, the fire department,” said Samantha Dedmon. “Especially with everything going on in town, it’s scary.”

Police tell KRDO NewsChannel 13 there isn’t a threat to the community.

“We don’t believe there’s an active threat to the community from this incident,” said Officer Brandon Beauvais, with the Pueblo Police Department.

Anyone with information is asked to submit an online tip at CrimeSuspect.net or call Crime Stoppers at 719-542-STOP (7867).
