UPDATE: CSFD knocks down late night grass fire

Colorado Springs fire crews put out a small grass fire on 30th St. and W. Colorado Ave. near a car wash in the area.

Reports of the fire came in around 11:30 pm. on Friday night.

Crews responded quickly, confining the damage to a very small area.

No official cause was given, though the CSFD characterized the fire as “not suspicious”. The scorched area was located just feet away from a homeless encampment where several sleeping bags were visible.

The fire department says no one is hurt.
