Fire investigation continues in Colorado Springs

tonight … two fires… one cause… but no one in custody. colorado springs police say they’re still working to find the person responsible for two suspicious fires on the west side. the first one was reported just after eleven yesterday morning at 19th and dale… the second one in the 24-hundred block of launcelot court. neighbors are nervous tonight… …while the fire department says cases like these aren’t easy to solve. ilda mendoza was bringng her granddaugh ter home… but knew something was wrong when she saw fire trucks. radio reference – 27:45 0:39:i noticed the fire engine when i got home living on the west side, she’s no stranger to fires, smoke was so thick from the waldo canyon fire she had to evacuate. 1:52 i myself have asthma, and so if there’s a lot of smoke, then i have trouble breathing. when she heard the fire on launcelot court was ruled suspicious… she wasn’t happy. 3:05 the disregard for human life, and for what other people have worked a long time to put together for themselves. standup: this area near 19th and dale is the scene of an arson investigation. fire crews rushed out here yesterday morning and you can still see charred ground behind me. fire crews tell me cases like these aren’t easy to solve. 3:00 the signs are a little bit more subtle, a lot of it depends on the topography of the area. how the fire spreads and the burn pattern. as crews investigate – 3:48 not having any respect for other people and their things… it’s just not right. mendoza just hopes whoever is responsible … is found. in the lancelot court fire, one home was damaged. if you have any information… you’re asked to call colorado springs police at 719-444-7000.
