Sarah Palin endorses Donald Trump; will it affect voters’ decision?

Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump picked a big endorsement. Former vice presidential candidate and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, endorsed Trump on Tuesday at a rally in Iowa.

“I’d like to bring up, Governor Sarah Palin,” Trump said.

“Are you ready to stump for Trump? Are you ready for a commander in chief who will let our warriors do their job?,” said Palin.

Trump is deadlocked with Ted Cruz in Iowa. While Cruz could benefit from an endorsement, some say it won’t make a big difference to voters.

“I don’t think this will make a big difference to voters. What’s really going to make the difference now is the ground game, who can turn the voters out to participate in the Iowa caucus,” said Daniel Cole, executive director of El Paso County Republicans.

Local voters we spoke with have mixed feelings about the endorsement.

“It kinda makes sense. I mean I’m not really a fan of either one of them. But I don’t know makes sense, stupid following stupid I guess,” said one voter.

“I’d rather see somebody else like Cruz or another Republican, but I mean if that’s all that we have is Donald, I’d vote for Donald,” said another voter.

Cruz hasn’t mentioned anything about the endorsement but before the rally he posted on twitter, “I love Sarah Palin. Without her support, I wouldn’t be in the senate. Regardless of what she does in 2016, I’ll always be a big fan.”

“The fact that he put it out right before she made the endorsement makes it seem like he did know it was coming and I think it’s very gracious of him,” said Cole.

Next up is the Feb. 1 caucuses in Iowa.

“I just want to thank Sarah. From day one I said if I ever do this I have to get her support,” said Trump.
