Mom says pieces of hard plastic found inside son’s smoothie

A Colorado Springs mother said it will be awhile before she goes back to a fast food restaurant after she found chunks of hard plastic in her son’s smoothie.

Leslie Grogg said she was at the drive-thru of the Burger King at Airport and Academy last week, when her son started complaining about chunks of something in his smoothie.

He started coughing and eventually spit out a piece of hard plastic.

“When I swallowed it, it felt a little sharp,” said her son, Issac Tafoya.

She found more of the chunks in his drink and so she returned to the Burger King. But she said when she complained to the manager, she was simply told “goodbye.”

“At what point do they have to be responsible, at the same point that I would have to be responsible? You can’t serve people anything in their food,” Grogg said.

She said she doesn’t want to sue, she simply wants an apology and to see new training procedures at the restaurant.

Grogg had her son checked by paramedics and he was fine, though he told KRDO NewsChannel 13 he will think twice when he eats out.
