People honor Martin Luther King Jr. in Home of Heroes

People in the Home of Heroes are honoring a famous civil rights leader.

The annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day walk happened in downtown Pueblo Monday.

People walked from the library to the El Pueblo Museum.

Organizer Margaret Redmond said the walk symbolizes that King’s dream is still alive.

“We are not divided by -isms, colorism, racism, homophobism, religiousness. We are united by a common humanity,” she said.

King’s actions motivated the Rev. Bobby Jackson to be a leader in Pueblo.

“What he has done is inspire me to stand up and be a voice in this community,” he said.

People continued the event with a program about King at the El Pueblo Museum.

King was assassinated on April 4, 1968.
