Water worries in Southern Colorado
from cleaning, to serving coffee, antonia stewart needs water for ever aspect of her business at a fountain coffee shop. really need water for every transaction, even ice, for the coffee, for pretty much everything. when she found out about the epa’s report – that teflon particles had leaked into water samples tested, she got nervous. sot: the contaminents in the water are a big concern. the utilities director in fountain tells me ever since they learned about the contaminated test results they launched their own investigation and so far they have not found any problems. the same can not be said in security. we just researched our records. and those records traced contaminents to two wells – both of which are shut down. sot: we’re used to looking for regulated contaminents, we’re pretty familiar with those. but teh unregulated ones, we rely on the epa to determine the impact. while the contamination level is low – well below safety limits – there’s not much relief… sot: teflon particles sound a little more dangerous than, say, a high amount of flouride as we usually get in some of our water. to those who rely on water the most. an epa spokesman confirms the contamination was far from the borderline of a health threat. live in security, gm, nc, 13. a sad
